"Two hours of uninterrupted work beats eight hours of half-distracted Slack chats." - I find this part to be especially true.
I can typically accomplish as much on my own projects by myself in 2 hours as in a full day at work, because at work I keep getting interrupted or pushed down certain pre-prescribed paths.
I just read your piece “How I Balance Full-Time Work, Full-Time Study, and Still Have a Life” — and I really admire how clearly you translate discipline into design. The line “find the highest-leverage action in every area of life, then execute it with focus” felt like a blueprint for intentional living. I also appreciated the “sharpening the axe” section — it’s rare to see someone frame preparation as both strategy and sanity.
I write on Substack too, though my work leans more into dark, poetic political satire — exploring the emotional side of resistance and reinvention. Your structured approach to productivity really inspired me to think about how I could bring more deliberate rhythm into my own creative chaos.
If you have a moment, I’d love for you to check out my writing and maybe share a thought or two. Always great connecting with other writers who take the craft — and the discipline behind it — seriously.
I adore all of this. I’m going to look more deeply into your strategies and systems as it’s a personal love of mine to compound time. With children it’s more organic so I’m curious to see how these translate to a complex lifestyle design!
I love the way you have scheduled your days with true intention and focus. Something I guide my clients to do as well. Very good article.
Thank you, Sheri!

Appreciate what you’re putting out there, Tobias.
Thanks for your nice comment, Omar! :) I’ll check it out!
