Love this. I studied Japanese both in senior high school and at university for a year. Right now I'm incorporating Japanese characters in my fiction novels and it's reignited my relationship with Japanese in such a lovely way. A movie I suggest that is pretty slow, simple and very beautiful to watch in Japanese is My Happy Marriage (available for free to watch on YouTube) I also use https://nihongoclassroom.com/converter to convert back and forth between Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana and Romanji. The translation from Kanji to Hiragana and romanji is sooooo helpful when you're trying to read Japanese posts on social media or articles. That's the best service I know, all the other ones are crap. I also study Ikebanan and have been invested in Kimono culture for 15 years. I include a lot of Hanakotoba (花言葉), the symbolic and philosophical language of flowers used in Japan in my books too. (and in adjacent cultures like Vietnam, China and South Korea) Look forward to new posts from you about Japanese. I need all the refreshers I can get!
