A few years back I started following the process of listening g to audio books on my way in to work and listening to new music on my way home from work.
The way in becomes an opportunity to get continuous exposure to new ideas and concepts.
The way home becomes an opportunity to decompress while still gaining exposure to new ideas in a different way through leaning into new music.
Yes, this is really great! My commute to university usually takes from 30 minutes to an hour (depending on the transport). I always turn on a podcast or an audiobook. I love listening to something interesting on the way. It really helps me get into a productive mindset. Thank you for sharing!
I use these principles all the time but also when I am at home because while I am uploading the dishwasher or cooking breakfast and anything else like laundry that I am doing, I also can listen to audio on my phone or computer so I am still learning while I am working at home. At the same time I have my notebook ready so if I need to write something down, that is easily accessible as well.
Great article! I’m going to try some of these this week. I’ve also been using OpenAI voice while driving it’s a nice way to capture ideas since that’s when most of mine show up.

Why not spend some time during the commute not doing anything? Most of our brains are hyper-active now. Why does everything need to be "productive?"
