Sometimes I am astounded that I get all of my work done way faster. Almost like I SHOULD be doing something, but now have nothing to do.

And yeah, I feel myself falling into distractions since I can't "leave" my desk during "work time."

Getting better at just working ahead and knocking out other backburner tasks thanks to time "savings" with AI

Thank you for sharing this post. you are right. We need to qualitatively analyse the benefits of AI tool rather than quantitatively. More time needs to be spent in analysing the output and spend time wisely on complex problems.

Interesting perspective. The part that stood out to me was the idea that increased efficiency should raise the standard rather than lower the effort. In research, AI often helps me complete the mechanical parts of analysis much faster, but the real value comes from using that extra time to ask better questions, test additional hypotheses, and explore ideas that would have been too time-consuming before. The time saved isn't the benefit by itself. What you do with the additional capacity is where the value appears.

Couldn’t agree with you more on the multiple points you address in your post.

AI is always evolving and I learned early on to never use the first result/draft.

AI should be a companion tool to help were it can.

I also really liked your point about having a plan for your “extra” time.

After all, there are only 1.440 minutes in a day and as you mentioned, there is no bank.

I’m also into fitness and recently started on Substack, as you’ll see by my first post.

I’m writing about fitness, personal training, and working out.

Thank you. This really made me stop and start exploring my ‘saved time’ activities!

The only AI tool I use daily is spell check… I type too fast which increases my typos!

Recently I decided to use AI to help me with graphics. I did exactly what you said would happen! Long story short, two days later I went back to the AI graphic and made changes that were more in line with my thinking!

Bottom line: you are spot on!
